A few of the waves teams opened their seasons this past weekend, lets take a look at how they did!
The 9u boys went out to the Total Sports Beat the Heat event and absolutely DOMINATED! The waves rolled (pun intended) to a perfect 4-0 weekend while outscoring their opponents 59-8! And to end the weekend in style, Parker Gron threw a no-hitter in the championship game as the rain poured down! Heck of a start fellas!
10u took on the Spring Fever Showdown and battled their way into the championship game as well! The boys ultimately fell just short, but brought home a runner-up finish on their opening weekend while fighting tough in some very competitive games. Jackson Zwolinski had an impressive weekend going 8-12 (.625 BA) at the plate and throwing 4 inning on the mound in the semi-final win. Jagger Iafrate also came up clutch in the semi-final with a 3-run homer, his first on the season! We are looking forward to a big year out of 10u!
Lastly, 11u Carolina was also at Total Sports, and although they came up just short of the limited bracket play, the boys went 2-1 and opening the season by taking down the Midland Express, ranked #3 in the state, by a score of 12-9! Coach Dubey couldn't have been more proud of how the boys showed up ready to go and stayed tough for the huge victory. The only loss on the weekend was an 11-10 final score with the waves nearly pulling it out. But don't worry, this team is going to come back with a vengeance!
